Xiaomi Sound Pocket 5W Portable Bluetooth Speaker with IP67 and 10-Hour Battery - MDZ-37-DB

The Xiaomi Sound Pocket is a 200g Bluetooth speaker with a built-in subwoofer, IP67 dust and water protection and up to 10 hours of playback from one charge.

The whole point of this one is that you stop deciding whether to bring it. At 200g and 90.8 × 74.4 × 42.6mm it weighs about as much as a bottled coffee, and the rubber anti-loss lanyard clips it to a bag, a bike or a beach chair instead of taking up a hand.

Small speakers usually give up the low end first, so Xiaomi put a built-in subwoofer behind a large mesh area, which is what lets it push bass rather than thin the sound out at volume. Three tuning features run underneath: automatic equalisation adjusts across frequency bands, smart volume balancing keeps detail audible at low volume instead of collapsing it, and dynamic woofer extension reaches into low frequencies a cabinet this size would not normally manage.

IP67 is the rating that matters outdoors: fully dust tight and rated for immersion, not just splashes. That covers the pool, the beach and rain, so the speaker is not something you have to shelter.

Battery is 1000mAh for up to 10 hours at 40 percent volume, recharged in about 3 hours at 5V 1A. Bluetooth 5.4 holds a stable connection out to 25 metres, and pairing a second Sound Pocket turns the two into a left and right stereo pair. A built-in microphone means an incoming call is answered with a single tap rather than digging the phone out.

Xiaomi Sound Pocket Key Features:

• 200g and pocket sized — 90.8 × 74.4 × 42.6mm, about the weight of a bottled coffee, with a rubber anti-loss lanyard for clipping it to a bag or a bike.
• Built-in subwoofer behind a large mesh area — the reason a speaker this size still produces deep bass instead of going thin as you turn it up.
• IP67 dust and water protection — fully dust tight and rated for immersion, so the pool, the beach and rain are all within normal use.
• Up to 10 hours of playback — from the 1000mAh battery at 40 percent volume, which covers a full day out rather than an afternoon.
• Bluetooth 5.4 with a 25 metre range — a stable connection that holds when you leave the phone on the table and walk away.
• TWS stereo pairing — connect a second Sound Pocket and the two split into left and right channels for a proper stereo image.
• Hands-free calling — a built-in microphone answers an incoming call with one tap and keeps the conversation clear.
• Automatic equalisation, smart volume balancing and dynamic woofer extension — tuning that keeps detail audible at low volume and stops the sound hardening at high volume.
• Three colours — Black, Blue and Pink. Pick the one you want from the product options before ordering.
• Charges over a standard 5V 1A supply — a full charge takes about 3 hours and the cable is in the box.
